Layover, eh?!?

London lad, Ricky…on a two year holiday
Left hand strong
When I dip, you dip, we chip…with rosemary 🙂

Oh Canada 🇨🇦! You’re clean and nice…the people and the airport 🙂 Did we just become best friends?!?

Welp, here we are in Calgary. Next stop Dublin 😎

So a little disclaimer, we’re both big fans of merging words together, word of the day-likewise, henceforth, happenstance to name a few we’ve tried out, as well as word alliteration-manicure Monday, fun Friday, you get the picture 🙂

This brings us to our first challenge and word merger: neuralo.

Since we both have a background in neuro, we love to express it in (almost) everything we do.  The word merger consist of this: neuroplasticy and buffalo. Now you might be thinking how in the world are those two words related? Well here’s your answer.

The theory behind neuroplasticity is that your brain has the ability to rewire itself and make new pathways or strengthen current ones. i.e. the ability to relearn or learn a new skill. So what’s with buffalo?Well some of you readers out there might be familiar with the adult beverage drinking game called buffalo.  Essentially if you see your friend drink with his or her dominant hand, you shout out buffalo and they drink at your discretion-hope you have more friends than enemies (always bee kind). Because we’re a little older, wiser, “sophisticated” and competitive :cough: just a tad :cough:, we’re going to take this in another direction other than drinking(We heard your sighs of relief moms-Jameson and Sharp. “don’t drink too much, don’t set your drink down, head on a swivel”…duly noted: check, check, check and thank you moms, we listen 👍🏻).It’s a way to embrace the European life style and attempt to slow down, live in the moment, enjoy what’s happening and who we’re with. So we are going to be doing everything, well almost, with our non dominant hand. And if we’re caught right handed? 10 burpees in public. #terrifying

We’re not trying to change handedness per se, but you’re never too old to learn a new skill and challenge yourself. For the next two weeks we want to live like locals in hopes we could be lucky enough to pal around with our friends across the pond…and maybe make them like Americans again. Cheers!

Welcome to Our New Travel Blog

Here we go!

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

-Theodore Roosevelt

Welcome to our blog! In a few days we’ll be venturing off to Europe, and we thought what better way to document our shenanigans (and let our moms keep track of us) than a blog. I’m delegating the IT task to my brother, getting my parents on the line to keep tabs, thanks Nate :). We look forward to sharing our trip with our friends and family, and hope you get a little entertainment and enjoyment out of our escapades, level’d up photog skills (Shannon) and inspirational quotes. Because hey, when do we get more insight and knowledge than when traveling. Bring on the experience and stay tuned!! Thanks for reading 🙂

This Is Us

A little bit about this duo 🙂

It all started seven years ago in small clinic in central Phoenix that lead to us falling 13,000 feet from a tiny plane, descending tandem with strangers to the dry grass of Eloy, Arizona to help a patient reach his goal of returning to skydiving after a traumatic brain injury on his 10th deployment to Iraq. That was the beginning of our adventure seeking behavior. Well not really, Sarah swam with sharks at the age of 7 and Shannon got asked to be on the junior olympic gymnastics team, also at the age of 7. Anyways, we digress. In a few days we are about to embark on an international adventure, including but not limited to 5 countries, 18 Air BnBs, 6 flights, a wine barrel hotel, craters in the Azores, as we discover our roots and beyond. We’re like lovable mutts, who live with crazy purebred dogs. From our midwest roots building that character and charm, to the wineries in Napa, to scaling 3000 feet to the top of Flat Iron Superstition Mountains, we’re ready to take this circus international.

We look forward to living like locals in our upcoming trip. Until Dublin…

PS recommendations and challenges welcome with open arms #hugs
